Design in Roe Dylan

‎Posted April 08, 2011 in Company News, Sightings. Tagged with .

Lucky us! Our wee state is hosting 400 design professionals and students this weekend for the IDSA Northeast Conference. While most of the conference is for the pros, you can still mingle with some of the best and brightest during the Rhode Island Design Walkabout — three overlapping and enlightening public events — all free, all downtown, all tonight! We recommend the Design in Rhode Island exhibit at the AIA Gallery (158 Washington Street), showcasing the surprising breadth [and best] of products designed right here in our little state. We were sent a preview of the gallery this morning, and lo! What do we spy in yonder blurry low res camera-phone photos?! Tis Food Face! And Pick Your Nose! Woot, as the kids say.

Who's behind that Pick Your Nose cup? (It's Dee's daughter Tess!)

Keen Shoes, for those without polarized lenses.

Famous resident Mr. P-Head and STOOLS! A chair's for fools, everybody wants stools...

Many other Rhode Island companies are featured, from one of the hottest electronics companies to the folks who build the Academy Awards sets. Go see for yourself! Now don't say you haven't learned something new today.

Happy Ninja New Year!

‎Posted January 06, 2011 in Fred Hacks, Just For Fun, Sightings. Tagged with .

Can you believe it? It's a brand-spankin' new year! If you're anything like us, you spent much of December keeping the couch warm and eating too many cookies. Well, it's time to get back into action. Or, you could start thinking about action. Or, you could start thinking about COOKIES in ACTION! Thanks to our clever fans Nick B. and his wife for baking up a storm and sending us these EPIC pictures of our Ninjabread Men decked out in 80s splendor. In this pivotal scene from the 1984 movie The Karate Kid, bad boy Johnny is attempting to block a well-placed front kick from the hero Daniel LaRusso as the cookie crowd goes crazy. Clearly, Mr. Cookie Miyagi has taught Danny well. We think you'll agree... the resemblance is uncanny. Frosting on, frosting off. We appreciate you sharing your stellar effort with us, guys. Who's next? Have you made anything using a Fred product lately? Let us know!

How Pleasant!

‎Posted September 09, 2010 in Fred's Rockin' Retailers, Sightings. Tagged with .

We recently took the arduous journey all the way from Cumberland down to Newport, RI for a little shopping excursion. If you are not from the fair state of Rhode Island, you should know that these two points are as far away from each other that you can get and still be in the state. In other words, Newport is an hour away from our Cumberland studio, and we lived to tell the tale. Oh, and what a tale! Check out this sweeeet store called "Pleasant Surprise" in the Brick Marketplace. They had a heapin' helpin' of  Food Face plates: And we nearly flipped when we saw Heads Up on the shelves: They had many of our stylin' key covers, with a side order of Borrow My Pen?: M-Cups and Unzipped, lookin' good on the shelves together: Thank you Pleasant Surprise, for the pleasant surprise. From the highlands of Cumberland, we salute you.
